Successful Mentoring
Course Designed for
Anyone who would like to contribute to the success of their organisation by helping
individuals, who do not report to them, to develop their knowledge and skills.
Aim
The aim of this course is to enable delegates to nurture talent by passing on their wisdom
in a supportive and challenging environment.
Objectives
By the end of this course each delegate will be able to:
- Explain the circumstances where mentoring support would be
most appropriate
- Understand the importance of mentoring as a technique when
managing organisational change
- Describe different types of mentoring relationships
- Explain the component parts of the mentoring model
- Describe the different roles of a mentor
- Practice the skills required to be a mentor
- Understand what motivates people to learn
- Complete the practical and mental preparation required to
conduct a first mentoring meeting
- Demonstrate a simple coaching technique
- Use a creative thinking technique to establish the options
available when planning solutions to challenges
- Design a simple action plan
- Explain some best practice ideas for mentors
