Course Title
Equal Opportunities for Employees

Course Designed for
Professional staff who would like to work in a positive culture that fosters equality as well as quality when dealing with colleagues and customers.

Aim
The aim of this course is to enable delegates to protect their careers by learning how to recognise the discrimination danger signs, and to inspire them to develop the skills to take control and diffuse potentially difficult situations.

Objectives
By the end of this course each delegate will be able to:

  • Explain the different circumstances where Equal Opportunities at work applies

  • Understand the benefits of an organisation’s Equal Opportunities Policy and their responsibilities within it
  • Describe the nature of discrimination
  • Explain the different types of illegal discrimination
  • Explain how to avoid harassment and discrimination at work
  • Identify areas where indirect discrimination may occur
  • Explain the component parts of effective communication
  • Describe the barriers to good communication
  • Understand the key principles of assertive communication
  • Use active listening to diffuse a situation
  • Demonstrate an influencing style of communication
  • Describe what sort of reasonable adjustment might be required to allow a disabled employee to return to work
